Job Summary: 

Old Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, located in Simpsonville, SC, seeks to hire a Childcare Director for its Christian Childcare Development Center. This individual will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of its childcare development center, while also demonstrating the ability to maintain a Christ-centered atmosphere where children can grow physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. The Director will also be responsible for managing, facilitating, planning, and coordinating the center’s educational programs and activities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree from a college or university in Early Childhood, Child Development, and/or Child Psychology, or a related field that includes at least 18 credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education.
  • 2+ years of proven leadership or management work experience in a licensed approved or registered childcare facility (prior Director/Assistant Director).
  • CPR and First Aid Certified.
  • Must pass all background checks and meet all state and local requirements.
  • Exceptional customer service, organizational, people and communication skills.
  • Possess solid computer skills with the ability to learn new programs and software applications.
  • Prior experience working with financial and administrative processes and systems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, and train teachers and support staff that are motivated to provide a conducive learning environment for children.
  • Ensure that curriculum and age-appropriate learnings and activities are being utilized and thoughtfully planned out.
  • Adhere to childcare standards, licensing, training, and safety requirements as established by the State and childcare provider.
  • Meet with parents on a regular basis to communicate and discuss the development and progress of their enrolled child/children, the center’s policies, activities within the childcare center, etc.
  • Meet with staff and church leadership regularly to discuss operational goals, needs, and opportunities.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts, and other administrative staff.
  • Perform administrative duties that include, but are not limited to, operations, budgeting, enrollment, sourcing of grants, inventory management, etc.
  • Exercise independent judgement and decision-making authority as delegated, including policies, procedures, and staff supervision.
  • Serve in various roles throughout the center as needed, i.e., teacher, cook, driver, etc.
  • Prepare, post, and manage the weekly staffing schedule to ensure all classes are covered each day/week.
  • Keep certifications current and attend professional development trainings as required or recommended.
